We are proposing a multi-million-pound investment to build a brand new and fit-for-purpose Lidl foodstore. We have looked at refitting the current store off the High Street, but the site constraints including car park size means this would not be possible. If plans are approved, the existing Lidl would be marketed for re occupation or redevelopment.
A brand new modern Lidl store built to our very latest specification, including in-store facilities like our popular bakery and a more spacious sales area including your favourite products
115 customer parking spaces including 6 accessible, 9 parent & child, 2 EV chargers (with capacity for more), and cycle parking. This would improve on our existing offer of 75 spaces off the High Street
A landscaping scheme will propose planting on the boundaries where possible to support biodiversity on the site
New jobs for local people, including full and part-time roles. Lidl GB pay rates for hourly-paid colleagues is a minimum of £13 per hour, increasing to £13.95 with length of service. Existing colleagues would transfer and the new store would provide additional jobs
A store with enhanced sustainable technology to minimise energy use, such as heat recovery systems and air source heat pumps. Rapid electric vehicle charging bays are provided in the car park and solar panels on the roof would provide up to 30% of the store’s energy requirements
Our award-winning bakery!
Our popular Lidl in-store bakery took gold recently, having been awarded No.1 in-store bakery by Kantar on value market share*. Whether it’s tasty Belgian buns, all butter croissants or our range of breads and cakes, we have something Midsomer Norton residents will love – all at great prices.

Did you know?
The store will only have between one and two deliveries per day, rising to three at peak times like Christmas and Easter. The deliveries will unload stock and take away any recycling during the same trip. No waste from the store is stored externally.
Lidl has recently been named Grocer of the Year at The Grocer Gold Awards 2025.
